After being shot down on the 11th of September 1944 he was taken as a prisoner of war and remained at Stalag Luft-1 until it was liberated in 1945

It was developed for the Austro-Hungarian Army and adopted in 1912 as the M1912

This famous Company is now called Gieves and Hawkes and still exists on the renowned Saville Row in London

Their secondary mission was to protect the southern flank of VII Corps
